The Magi
The Magi were ancient astronomers. Some of them made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem to see the infant Jesus, following a new and mysterious star.
This movement uses quarter tones in many of the guitar passages. Since the guitar cannot normally play quarter tones the performer must bend the string to produce the sound. This is incorporated into the composition of the piece, rather than expecting the performer to bend the string in anticipation of playing the note.
