As you might have suspected – this is when the Fauns catch the Wood Nymphs
This piece features a big dong of the gong at the beginning and the at the end.
It is written so that when performed live there is to be an extra brass section placed at the back of the auditorium that makes a surprise entrance towards the end. In spite of the rather colorful subject matter, this continues to be one of my favorite works.
