Beginning – A – Ture is the overture for the ballet Hot Petunias, which is a story of some children visiting their granny on the farm for the summer. They head to the market to by some petunia seeds for the flower garden. Along the way they run into the mysterious country peddler, Mr. Pluto Onium. Mr. Onium works in a nuclear power plant nearby and is the country peddler as a side job. He happens to have some petunia seeds so granny and the children are delighted that they do not have to walk all of the way to the market. The only problem is as the seeds sprout and grow strange things begin to happen.
This production requires very little additional props, as the performers provide most of the action and scenery.
I had the plot to this story ( or lack thereof ) in my mind and had been developing the music for it when my wife and I attended a performance of Coppe’lia,. After seeing a ballet about a man who falls in love with a doll in a window, I quickly determined that my plot could be equally as stupid so I was off and running with the project.
This is of course the track at the beginning to set the mood for the fun that is to come. Make sure you have your popcorn and soda!
